2021 has been a fair year despite the numerous challenges brought by Covid-19 pandemic. We are glad that despite those challenges, our projects stood strong and continue to transform the lives of young people and families in our community. We share sincere gratitude to all our well-wishers and partners for continued support and believing in us. Your support continues to empower Maji Mazuri to make a difference in the lives of many children, youths and families that we serve.
- Our Teens talent program has made major achievements this year. The program has partnered with Kenya Cultural Centre incorporating Kenya National Theatre to be involved in a National Talent incubation program. This is a big opportunity for our talent program to develop, nurture and expose our children’s talents. Through this partnership, our children will enjoy the opportunity to interact and be mentored by national and international celebrities in different categories such as music, poetry and other fields. They will also have access to Kenya National Theatre facilities for showcasing their performances.
- For all the activities which take part in at the Kenya National theatre, our children have free access to any relevant show/performance. Anyone from Mathare affiliated to Maji Mazuri has free access to use the national theatre for meetings and rehearsals.
- Through performance at the National theatre, two of our best pupils in the 2020 national exams received full scholarships due to their sterling performances. This program has also contributed to the confidence and whole development of the teachers who are involved as they are now considered people who highly impact the children from the slums. The exposure has made them more confident in their work and more available to produce the best of the best from Mathare in terms of talent development and nurturing.
